Calling All Photographers!!

The Image Lab is looking for those interested in cameras, film, darkroom practice, and all things photography!!

This is a casual event where like-minded people can meet and discuss ideas for projects, classes, and collaborations. Meet other photographers at the Image Lab, preview the space, and help make a creative community. We will discuss future events and ways to promote photography in Bozeman. If you are interested or know someone interested in photography or art in general please join us.


*There will be basic refreshments provided but you are welcome to bring anything you like.

Winter Card Workshop @ Bozeman Makerspace (December 20th 2-4pm)

The Image Lab and The Bozeman Makerspace team up! In this workshop we will be using the historical photographic process called cyanotype to create unique holiday cards. You will leave with a set of cards to share with your friends and family. You will also learn how to use this method for other applications such as printing on fabric and other surfaces. The gifting possibilities are endless.

Into The Darkroom: The Print (Saturday or Sunday)

In this class students will learn how to use their processed negatives to make prints in the darkroom. We will cover negative handling, using an enlarger, processing your print, and proper print handling. Please come with already developed film ready to be printed.

Materials:

1 pack of BW photo paper (available for purchase $20)

Into The Darkroom: The Negative (Saturday or Sunday)

In this class students will learn how to use process black and white film. We will cover loading film for development, processing film and chemicals involved, negative handling and basics of scanning film. Please come with film already exposed and ready for development. No disposable cameras.

Materials:

4 rolls of exposed 35mm black and white film (available for purchase prior to the class $25)

Into The Darkroom: The Camera (Saturday or Sunday)

In this class students will learn how to use their film camera. We will cover loading film, adjusting camera settings and what they mean, understanding lighting, and the basics of composition and concept. Following the class we will take a 1 hour walk around Bozeman. You can stick with the group or follow your own creative instincts. Each student can then take their film to F-11 to be processed or sign up for the next class where we will cover the film negative.

Materials:

4 rolls of 35mm film color (or B+W if you are taking the next class) available for $25

35mm film camera w/ aperture and shutter control (cameras available for rent at first come first serve basis)

Image Lab is available for you to come in and use the facilities, ask questions, and create in the dark.
